About Amy Gardner: For the last fourteen years I have been matching employees with employers throughout Northern California. Having grown up in California with a strong tie to farming and science, I attended UC Davis and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Botany. Using my science background I worked in biochemistry and microbiology in agriculture, food and beverage companies. With a solid appreciation of the scientific side of the winery industry, I wanted to incorporate my interest in people in a business that I could build a career on. I went to work helping match scientists and engineers at large and small companies in California. The successful marriage of a technical employee’s skills and personality with a client’s team was a thrilling accomplishment for me. As I made more successful placements, I was rewarded with a strong network of talent and clients. This success led me along in my career. My job starting being more involved with my own employers’ success, and less with my direct involvement with wineries. I have always enjoyed the personal involvement recruiting requires, so at the beginning of 2005 I realized my dream of starting up my own placement company specializing in winery talent recruitment. That was when WineTalent was born.

Since starting WineTalent I have been very fortunate to be working with many of my old friends in the wine industry. I began with technical recruitment of winemakers, enologists and viticulturists. My clients were asking for additional help in other areas of the winery. After careful consideration, at the start of the 2006 summer season WineTalent will now be assisting with recruitment of all professionals in the winery. This allows me to continue to meet my clients’ needs while furthering the careers of many of my longtime colleagues.

Recruitment Strategy: My strategy centers on gaining a true understanding of my clients' needs and goals. Through interviewing, reference checking and networking I learn the skills, successes, dreams and desires of my candidates. With this background I am able to ensure solid placements. As with winemaking, the results of today's efforts are evident in the future. For this reason I focus on quality recruitment practices to insure continued success.
